Gatherings

Parkside Gatherings are an opportunity to connect with other Parksiders through social & spiritual connection in larger settings.  It can be a wonderful way to see a fuller expression of the larger Parkside Community and beyond.

Put on your coziest holiday sweats or 'jams, grab your family members, neighbors and friends and join Parkside for pizza, cookies, cocoa and Christmas movies. Mark your calendars for A Muppet Christmas Carol on Sunday evening December 1 and Home Alone on Sunday December 15. Pizza party at 5:30pm and movies at 6:00pm in the Parkside Social Hall. Chairs and some throw blankets are available, but if you prefer a comfy sleeping bag and pillow, pack those along as well. We want to get the pizza order right, so if possible, please RSVP.

Advent is approaching: a time for inner preparation as we look forward to kindling the inner light that glows within us all. Join us, Sunday, December 8th for our annual Advent Garden. At 11:30, after Sunday services, all are invited to share a simple meal in the social hall, and then to walk the spiral garden in the sanctuary.

Rooted in ancient solstice practices, the ritual features a spiral of evergreen boughs (symbol of life everlasting) and elements from the animal, plant and mineral kingdoms. The room is darkened, gentle music floats through the air and the mood is peaceful. The spiral begins and each participant walks into the spiral with an unlit candle. They make their way to the spiral’s center, receive a blessing and their candle is lit. They place their lantern with care somewhere along the spiral’s path and then they walk their way back to their seat for meditative reflection.
